The downside of choosing Rwanda is that the gorilla permit costs more – USD750 as opposed to USD600 in Uganda. In terms of costs, similar tours in Uganda and Rwanda are quite competitively priced, so you can find a good deal in either country. That said, you can probably get a better safari deal in Uganda. The upside of trekking in Rwanda is that it’s quick and easy, given the proximity of the international airport in Kigali to Volcanoes National Park (116 km).
